BJO, A MODEL OF INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION IN TUNISIA

The new Briqueterie Jbel Ouest (BJO) brickworks which recently began operation in Zaghouan, a city in northern Tunisia, is the first of three new brick production plants included in the major investment plan of Carthago Ceramics, the Poulina Group’s building materials division. Present in the heavy clay business since 2010, the group has set itself the target of achieving a daily production capacity of 5,500 tons of bricks by the end of 2020 while strengthening and capitalising on the know-how it has acquired over the years.

The extrusion department was meticulously designed and customised in accordance with the production process, the type of materials and the characteristics of the clay. It was designed entirely by Tecnofiliere, a italian company based in Novi di Modena that proposed the best solution for optimal extrusion. In particular, the company supplied TFE-J EVO dies, recently upgraded with mechanisms that further improve clay flow and guarantee maximum abrasion resistance.
