RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY: THE KEYS TO AKEK'S SUCCESS

Akek, a company based in Heraklion on the Mediterranean island of Crete, is one of Greece’s largest producers of heavy clay products, particularly bricks and blocks for interior and exterior masonry. A pioneer in the sector, Akek was founded in 1906 in Hersonissos by Elias Konstantinou Kanakakis, who later passed on the reins of the company to his sons and other gifted businessmen.

Christakos Konstantinos, Akek’s CEO since 2000, talks about the progress the company has made since its last major investment: "The extrusion equipment was supplied by Tecnofiliere, a company with which we have a continuous and very satisfactory relationship. Given their prompt response and rapid supply times as well as the high level of innovation and quality of their equipment, we see them as the ideal partner for the future. Tecnofiliere helped us design the extrusion department and suggested the most suitable solutions for our needs. In particular, we chose the model CF1FC whose modular construction system enables only worn modules to be replaced, considerably extending the extruder die lifetime".
